Shared Services: Advancing Opportunity, Optimizing Success

The focus on efficiencies and cost reduction in today's economic environment has caused many municipal governments to explore shared service operational models in order to reduce costs while improving organizational effectiveness in service delivery. While the shared service approach is certainly not new to municipal governments, it has evolved significantly over the past decade to address new challenges and advance new opportunities.

The City of Vancouver and Sierra Systems invites municipal leaders to attend a Municipal Shared Services forum focused on the development and implementation of shared services organizations in the current public sector environment. The Municipal Shared Services Forum will provide an opportunity for public sector leaders to share ideas, experiences and challenges in designing and delivering shared services. It will also present analysis on current and emerging trends, developments and leading practices in the evolution of shared services in the public sector. The Forum will be facilitated by Sierra Systems to encourage an open exchange of perspectives with each session launched by a stage-setting overview and a lead presenter to kick off discussion.

The session will also feature keynote address by Dr. Alison Brooks, a recognized expert analyst with IDC Government Insights, a global advisory services and market research firm focused on improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of government performance and service.
